Almost there! The Light at the end of the Tunnel .....and a very happy Christmas to you all!

Jean and I are nearing the end of our chapter re-writing and are very excited now that we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We have really enjoyed every minute of the project and sincerely hope that our book will benefit many people in the long term. We are already making plans for a sequel to the ‘University of Life from the Casting Couch’ and have some great ideas for the next book. All will be revealed in the near future.

We genuinely believe in the ideology that we express in our book and are certain that it is the way forward. Our project motto 'Together through Inspiration to complete lfilment' was a perfect choice and judging from student feedback our understanding is that the Sinnett Jones Training courses health warning ' Enthusiasm is Infectious' is extremely contagious!

Jean and I would like to take this opportunity to wish our Blog readers and ‘Sinnett Jones Training’ students a very happy Christmas and all the best for the NewYear. We know from your e-mails that you are looking forward to our book being published. Congratulations to all the lady students from our ‘Mothers Returning to Work’ courses who have all now found employment in their chosen fields. Thank you all so much for your follow up. What a result!

Our sincere thanks to all the staff at ITV Central Studios, Gas Street, Birmingham for their help. They invited Jean and I to research the theoretical television studio scenario scenes in our book within their 'live' television environment. We had a wonderful full day visit to the studios with the GMTV crews and were hosted like VIP’s by the show presenters. As an Air Traffic Control Officer I just loved the directors television control gallery and because it was so interesting I had to be dragged away in the end. In the meantime Jean made an excellent recording as the weather girl, receiving accolades from the gallery. She tells me it is going to be sunshine all the way!......Happy Christmas everybody!!

Chapter re-writes and Vocational Guidence,

My apologies to our readers for the delay writing this edition of our blog post but Jean and I have been very busy putting the finer touches to our Chapter re-writes. We are rewriting several chapters to improve the initial ‘sizzle’ in each chapter and finalising all the ‘coaching tips’ as subject revision.

Jean and I are also discussing the possibility of including ‘vocational guidance’ subject matter as an additional subject. We both feel that in the present climate it is so important. With more young people than ever now applying for university places and the subsequent debt levels accrued at the end of their courses it is vital to ensure that their personal choice of career subject is correct and just as importantly at the right time in the educational curriculum. A good university degree no longer guarantees a job these days so the very best career advice is a vital ingredient. Any student starting out on the career path deserves the best vocational guidance to be available at the correct time in the career planning phase. The same principle of course applies to older people when considering a 'life changing' career change

When the book is finally published Jean and I will be looking at the possibility of extending our ‘Sinnett Jones Training’ syllabus to include the subject of vocational guidance on one of our courses.

The University of Life from the Casting Couch-The Book

As we approach the end of the long road towards publishing the book Jean and I have now distributed the manuscript to several proof readers. We have tried to choose a wide selection of people, male and female, and eagerly await their comments, opinions and of course grammatical corrections.

At the same time I have completed a fairly comprehensive synopsis together with a covering letter which has been e-mailed to various publishing companies. I have been informed that very few publishers are taking on ‘new works’ from first time authors so we are also researching the possibility of self publishing our book. I feel that I have the expertise to promote the book both locally in person and on the internet. In the event we would probably publish with a ‘web based’ company which will of course provide an ‘internet bookshop’ access as well as Amazon facilities.

This is an exiting time for Jean and I as we plan ahead and consider our options. We both cannot wait to read the completed book. First reaction from our proof readers is that they all like the ‘style of writing’ and enjoy the ‘story line aspect’ which provides a completely different ‘twist’ to the very important subject of personal development. Advice from publishers I have spoken to is that our book provides the reader with an ‘original idea’. This leads me to suspect that creating a television series from an essential purpose written life guide is indeed a ‘novel’ (excuse the pun) idea.

Please do not hesitate to leave comments or e-mail me via the link provided. Most of our Blog readers prefer the second option and Jean and I look forward to hearing from you. Your opinions regarding our progress to date will be most welcome.

ITV Central Television Studios, Birmingham - Consolidation

On Monday 20th July 2009 Jean and I visited the ITV Central Television studios in Gas Street, Birmingham. Our aim was to achieve an 'atmosphere taster' of the 'live television studio' environment and gain valuable technical expertise to help us to write the 'on the casting couch' sessions in the book. These sessions are of course based in a theoretical television studio with a 'Richard and Judy' scenario and include the presenters, a celebratory guest, the studio audience and a viewers 'phone in'. I am delighted to report that we fully achieved our overall aims and objectives as well as experiencing a 'wonderful' visit.

We were introduced to the staff at the television centre and were able to view the planning phases as well as the practise and 'live' television transmission productions in the different studio environments.

As a consequence the visit also turned out to be a consolidation of the whole ideology of our book principles. Our subject matter relates to individual personal development and 'core' skills. These skills were abundantly evident and displayed by the 'team' that staff the ITV studios.

Everyone we met was totally confident in their personal and professional abilities. There was ample evidence of leadership, forward planning, allocation of priorities, team work, good manners and humour. Targets were set and achieved. Working relationships were established and the guidelines layed down. Professional expertise and etiquette was evident. Every single person in that working environment knew exactly what they had to do to achieve their individual tasking and many were confidently expected to multi task. Perfect timing was paramount. Even the practise film sessions prior to the live ‘element’ were treated with utmost respect by all the staff and the subsequent de-briefings were accurate and to the point. Worse case scenario procedures due to power failure and/or computer ‘glitches’ are also promulgated and briefed to all staff.

During the live transmission phase everyone involved in the procedures adopted a calm but positive work rate which combined to produce a totally professional performance. Overall, it was extremely impressive to watch.

Jean and I would sincerely like to thank all the staff at the ITV studios for our VIP welcome and visit. In particular we wish to personally thank Imelda Stevens, Louisa James, Lucy Kite and Laura Craig for a fabulous day.

Etiquette, Formal Occasions, Life Coaching and The Synopsis of the Book

Jean and I have now completed three more chapters and can now 'see the light at the end of the tunnel' . As we approach 'the final straight' we have also decided to write a synopsis of the future publication to send to companies who will be interested in printing the book

Readers may be surprised to see chapters titled Etiquette and Formal Occasions in a 'people and life' skills guide. Jean and I feel however that if an individual person has ambition in life then it is essential that they have a guideline with regard to good manners, protocol and perfect behaviour patterns. In a 'management' scenario these skills would be the 'least' expectations and would combine perfectly with an understanding of correct 'dress codes'. Jean actually lists a copy of the relevent dress codes as a guideline in the relevant chapter on Formal Occasions.

Life Coaching is a very important subject. Jean herself is a qualified professional life coach and in the chapter she explains how, with the aid of expert question techniques, she can help clients consider and explore 'options' in life that they may never have considered by themselves. As Jean points out top sports teams and successful business people employ life coaches to help them achieve the pinnacle of their careers so why not you, the individual. The principle is the same.

To attract a good publisher it is essential that writers send a synopsis of the book content to possible publishing companies. I have actually written a covering letter, which gives a brief history of the whole project, to accompany the synopsis.

Jean and I are looking forward to our visit to the Central Television Studios in Birmingham on Monday 20th July. Following the visit we will be in a position to write our last chapters and then prepare for proof readings. It is an exciting time for us as 'first time' writers. We both reiterate that we can't wait to read the completed book

Central Television Studios and The University of Life the Book Chapters 9 - 12

Jean and I are delighted because we have been invited to the Central Television Studios in Birmingham on Monday 20th July 2009. We are visiting the studio as an ‘atmosphere’ taster to experience the ambiance of the occasion. We also want to look at the technical expertise so we can accurately narrate the ‘ on the casting couch sessions’. We feel it is such an important part of the project when the readers will be able to visualise the author’s personalities by the way the writers answer and react to the audience and viewers questions and comments. This is the section when the ideology of the book will be put to the test

The Chapters in the University of Life are nearing completion. Chapter 9 ‘Women Back to Work' forms the basis of one of the Sinnett Jones Training courses. Chapter 10 discusses the ‘pros and cons’ of life changing scenarios including retirement, which incidentally is another new course that we are offering.

Chapter 11 ‘Inspiration’ poses the question are we motivated then inspired or are we inspired then motivated? Either way the chapter looks at the different ways we can be inspired. Finally Chapter 12 ‘New You’ points to the way ahead and discusses the new possibilities available.
Despite our obvious progress there is still a long way to go before we produce the finished article. Each Chapter has to be read through for grammar and structure. We have already changed the Chapter titles, the numerical order and added an index.

Again I reiterate; Jean and I cannot wait to publish the book so we can read it. The 'on the casting couch sessions' in the television studio introduce a whole host of characters who are determined to question our 'ideology' and we just can't wait to introduce them to you the reader

Local Radio, Presentaion Skills, Confidence Training Courses & The University of Life the Book, Chapters 5 - 8

Jean and I have been very busy during the last few weeks. Jean has again been featured on BBC Radio Shropshire discussing Image, Style and Dress code. She is now becoming a local expert consultant in these matters and her broadcasts are a complete success. I have been away in London on another presentation skills course which was again an excellent experience. Our Sinnett Jones Training courses are being very well received by the students which has enabled us to validate our individual ‘one to one’ training programmes. Each training programme is written with personal knowledge including the clients hopes and aspirations. The web link www.jeansinnett.co.uk has up to date information on our Sinnett Jones Training ‘Investment for Life’ courses.

In accordance with our local venues policy, Chapter 5 of our book, 'Health and Exercise', was completed at the Castle Country Club, Rowton, near Shrewbury. Chapter 6, 'Relationships', has been written from a male and female perspective; this chapter discusses close people relationships, listening skills and relationships within the working environment.

Virtually every thing we do in life requires an aim so we have to define our goals and the steps taken to achieve them. Chapter 7 is titled 'Aims and Objectives' and also takes an in depth look at management of time.

Jean constantly reiterates that one of the things we need to remember at all times is that life is about self empowerment and self reliance. We have to carve out our own path to success. Chapter 8, 'Self Motivation', discusses the subject at length.

Jean and I are so pleased with our progress to date. The book is really taking shape now and we just can’t wait to read the book when it is published. Our Sinnett Jones Training courses are being exceptionally well received and the clients express a high degree of motivation on completion of the course. Chapter 9 titled 'Women Back To Work' is in draft format at present. This chapter is inspired by the Sinnett Jones Training course 'Mothers Returning to Work' and is located in the classroom environment. The fact that we take a unique individual interest in each client and adopt a follow up procedure is in my opinion an exceptional standard to achieve. We now intend to include future ‘Life Change’ courses, including retirement and adapting to change in our course list and itinerary

The University of Life The Book. Prologue, Forward and Chapters 1 -4

The book goes from strength to strength. Jean and I have now completed four chapters as well as the prologue and forward introduction phase. The real value of the lengthily research phase is now coming to fruition. We have archived a tremendous amount of material, which both of us have written, ready to edit into the separate chapters.

We are trying to make the book as realistic as is possible and have decided to locate some of the chapters into local venues. For example we actually did have our cream tea at my home in the village of Hanwood, Shrewsbury, prior to the introductory E-Mail to Mike Sawyer, Head of programming at Mid Counties Telivision. We did meet in the Myton and Mermaid Hotel to complete Chapter One and we both visit the Castle Country Fitness Club, the scene of our Chapter Five, on a regular basis. Chapter Four 'The University of Life The Book' presentation is an actual scripted presentation with full IT. I have presented it extremely successfully in London and will repeat it locally, on demand, to professional groups. Jeans 'fly on the wall' Image and Style documentary programme on BBC Radio Shropshire was a 'for real' scenario and was a really credible professional performance.

To recap the progress to date. Chapter One deals with the subject of personal confidence and is located in the old fashioned charm of the Myton and Mermaid Hotel at Atcham, Shrewsbury. Chapter Two, Image and Style, is inspired by Jeans career as a personal development and image consultant and relates to the BBC Radio Shropshire local radio broadcast. Chapter Three, Communicating with Others and Chapter Four, Presenataion Skills and Public Relations , are classroom orientated as part of a Sinnett Jones Training one day training course.

ChapterFive subject matter is 'Health and Exercise' and will be located at the Castle Country Club, Rowton, Near Shrewsbury. The club houses an excellent fitness centre togetherwith three swimming pools and is located in a beautiful rural area in Shropshire. Co-incidentaly Jean and I have both been members of the club for a number of years and both really enjoy the facilities available. We have in fact both attended the club in the 24 hours prior to posting this blog.

Sinnett Jones Training: Press, Media and Publicity Campaigns - The Book Chapter 1

Jean and I issued a press release during the past few days to announce the dates of four Sinnett Jones Training Confidence and Assertiveness courses on 23rd March, 18th, 20th and 25th April 2009. The press release was a great success achieving air time on local radio and articles in the Shropshire Star Jobs Scene as well as the Border Business magazine. Flyers have been widely distributed in the local area and I have had contact and personal interviews with several heads of departments including the Job Centre Plus.

The prospectus for our one day courses has now been finalised. The courses will concentrate on personal confidence, assertiveness, image, seeking and applying for jobs as well as interview technique. Speech, deportment, attitude, team working and CV compilation will also be covered at length.

This week marks an important milestone with regards to our future publication book project. Following the research phase we are now compiling the first of the chapters. Chapter one concentrates on personal confidence and assertiveness as the essential cornerstone of all 'life and people skills'

Congratulations to Jean this week because she has achieved a major media coup of her own. BBC Radio Shropshire attended one of Jeans client 'colour and image sessions' on Saturday 14th February 2009 to carry out a 'fly on the wall' documentary. Jean featured on the 7.00am news on Monday 16th February and achieved seven minutes air time from 0841am on Tuesday 17th February following an excellent PR build up. Jean is of course a most excellent ambassador for herself as well as our 'life and people skills' publication and training campaign. It is most certainly wonderful credibility for Jeans business and the Sinnet Jones Training name.

We are both really excited about our projects. We confidently look forward to the future and can now see the 'light at the end of the tunnel'. The book will reflect both our views on people and life skills and will relate some of our life experiences. It will be directive with a 'tinge' of humour and glamour. We both agree that we can't wait to read it!

The Live Phase - Sinnet Jones Training Launch

At our meeting in the Myton and Mermaid last evening Jean and I decided to launch our live training phase in March and April. Sinnett Jones Training intend to offer a day package to individuals which will concentrate on personal confidence and assertiveness. With many more people in these turbulent times seeking far less employment opportunities, the course will give the student the chance to improve their personal dress standards, deportment, speech and overall attitude. Applying for a job and interview technique will also be a mandatory consideration and they will learn the true meaning of the words 'work ethic' . During the day each individual will be given the opportunity to practise the practical aspects of the course following the theoretical phases. The complete package will provide the student with a career investment. Jean and I will both will provide our services at cost price as a means of a 'give back'. We both abhor the seemingly country wide lack of leadership at the moment and wish to use our life experiences to help as many people as possible.

Our future publication is on track. We hope to start piecing together the individual chapters in the near future. I have applied to Central television for a visit to their studios as a 'taster' prior to completion of the last chapter which will be set in the TV studio. The reply from the television company indicates a possible one off 'individual' visit in April. Confirmation will follow.

Strength in Numbers Network goes from 'strength to strength! Brain Tinson and I attended the Network with Style ladies group meeting in Shrewsbury and Telford Thursday 22nd January as a possible means of recruitment. We are hoping to recruit husbands, partners or friends of the ladies to join our new networking group and I am delighted to report that we have received several enquiries. The web site for the new group is up and running and can be found at WWW.STRENGTHINNUMBERSNETWORK.COM. As a wierd coincidence when shortened, the title spells SINNET. This was not intentional but what an excellent omen!
